In the early years, Harding’s student population was small, and so were the clubs. Clubs would invite one or two students a year to join them and would hold their own short pledge process at different times throughout the school year. By the late 1930s, the club pledging process became more formalized across campus.

One of the earliest mentions of “pledge week” in student publications can be found in the November 14, 1939 issue of The Bison newspaper where the writer speaks of pledge week happenings both “printable and unprintable.”

Silly shenanigans and time-honored traditions characterize Club Week. Each club puts its own unique twist on the process of welcoming new members.
