Rhodes-Reaves Field House

Named after Harding history professor and avid athletics supporter B. F. “Pappy” Rhodes, the Rhodes Memorial Field House was developed from a repurposed World War II airplane hangar in 1949. In addition to intercollegiate athletics, the gym served as a home for Harding club sports and originally housed basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, shuffleboard alleys, a softball diamond, and a skating rink. In 1976, the Ganus Athletic Center was built to accommodate growing enrollment needs, and the Rhodes became the home for Harding Academy athletics. The Rhodes once again hosted intercollegiate athletics in 1997 after a renovation that updated the floors, and added more seating and new locker rooms. In 2016, a donation from the Reaves family added a new practice gym, locker rooms, lobby, and hospitality room, and the gym became known as the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
